Who we are

About the Port Transportation Association

An industry advocacy association founded in 2019 to advocate for Vancouver drayage companies during industry changes initiated by the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority and the Office of the BC Container Trucking Commissioner.

The Port Transportation Association was created in 2019 by concerned drayage trucking company owners who deal with the Port of Vancouver and the Office of the British Columbia Container Trucking Commissioner on a daily basis.

Individual companies had recognized that many other drayage companies servicing the Port of Vancouver were facing the same frustrations and problems — whether with the Vancouver Fraser Port Authority, the BC Container Trucking Commissioner’s Office, or the terminals themselves.

In time, the association hopes to collaborate on and publish which shipping lines and brokers offer the best service with the least risk of equipment detention.

Why the association exists

A collective outlet

The association exists to give drayage companies an outlet to communicate with regulators and terminals — one documented voice in place of many isolated complaints.

A transparent record

A public website where stakeholders can view the challenges B.C. drayage companies face — with regulators, terminals, and shipping lines alike.

A stronger supply chain

The PTA has grown to include industry safety, terminal fairness, and the overall improvement of Canada’s supply chain to better the Canadian economy.

2026 initiatives

  1. 01Advocate for a review of the BC Container Trucking Act and Regulations, to update the Act to better reflect an industry more than ten years on from its inception.
  2. 02Advocate for terminal improvements that add efficiency to the supply chain.
  3. 03Continue assisting members and the port trucking community with understanding and applying OBCCTC policy and audit requirements.
