This policy explains how the Port Transportation Association (“PTA”, “we”) handles personal information collected through this website. We handle personal information in accordance with Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA) and British Columbia’s Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA).

Data residency

Data collected through this site is stored in Canada, in infrastructure hosted in theca-central-1 (Montréal) region.

What we collect

  • Newsletter signups: your email address (and name, if provided), with your explicit consent.
  • Contact and membership forms: the name, email, and any other details you choose to submit.
  • Poll voting: to keep polls to one vote per participant, we store a non-reversible hash derived from a first-party cookie and your IP address. We do not store your raw IP address or link a vote back to you.
  • Analytics: we use privacy-respecting, cookieless analytics and do not use Google Analytics or advertising trackers.

How we use it

We use this information only to respond to your inquiry, administer membership, send the newsletter you asked for, protect polls from manipulation, and understand aggregate site usage. We do not sell personal information.

Cookies

We use a single first-party cookie to support poll integrity. We do not use third-party advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

Your choices

You can unsubscribe from the newsletter at any time using the link in any email. To request access to or deletion of information you have submitted, contact us via the contact page.
